The decentralized autonomous group that governs privacy-focused blockchain Secret Community has voted to restructure its basis as a nonprofit with a “clear operation,” based on the proposal’s official web page.

The proposal states that the brand new basis “will likely be registered as an NPO [nonprofit organization] and supply an annual account of its actions, together with key efficiency indicators (KPIs), budgets, and targets.” The inspiration will likely be run by a board made up of three or extra neighborhood members. No single group will likely be allowed to carry greater than two seats on the board, based on the proposal.
It handed with 90.13% of the vote. 9.87% of the DAO abstained from the vote, and no members voted towards the proposal.
The approval got here after a public feud broke out between SCRT Labs and Secret Basis, two separate organizations supporting Secret Community. On Jan. 14, SCRT Labs CEO Man Zyskind accused Secret Basis CEO Tor Bair of cashing out SCRT tokens as a dividend paid out to himself and never disclosing the transaction.
Bair denied the allegation, claiming that the dividends had been a part of his common wage and had been disclosed as required. Even so, Bair agreed that the inspiration wanted to be extra clear, stating:
“I’ve communicated privately and publicly on a number of events about my want to be part of that change, which might embody restructuring the Basis entity, extra intently supporting Secret Company, establishing a worldwide board, or different subsequent steps. We firmly help this path and want to work in shut coordination with different community actors.”
Regardless of Bair’s public help for a restructuring plan, one main validator of the Secret Community introduced on Jan. 30 that it was shutting down as a consequence of “latest occasions” and different points.
